The Black House is a modern new home in Inverness in the grounds of a large Arts & Crafts mansion. The brief was to deliver a flexible family home with traditional elements and clean crisp detailing.

A future concern for our clients was mobility- it was important that the home’s interior could be transformed over time and rooms shifted for different uses to accommodate any mobility difficulties as they arose. Using traditional features as a starting point, we set out to design a stylish modern interior; each room was versatile enough for a number of uses and the end result was a house that could move freely around the family when the family could no longer move freely around the house.
