At Douglas Row the brief was to restore this attractive listed building on the banks of the River Ness. The interiors were badly decayed and the structural condition was very precarious.
As a Grade B listed building, it was imperative we preserved the exterior, but with a structure in danger of collapse, we also had to ensure that it was safe and structurally sound. This required an innovative engineering solution made more difficult by the fact that the site regularly floods and there has been a long history of the river penetrating the building.
The building needs a complete refit to give it a long-term future, but the result will be a comfortable family home that still respects the historic character of the River Ness frontage.
